Komoto is a home for vertical animated series, built for independent creators. There is no shortage of talented animators, but too many of them stay hidden, and the biggest reason is lack of funding. We started Komoto to remove that barrier, so that skilled creators can devote themselves to their work. Your series, your characters and your audience stay yours.
You do, permanently. Your series, characters, stories and all underlying IP stay 100% yours. Komoto only holds a license to stream your episodes on Komoto, and that license ends when you remove them. We never claim rights to spin-offs like webtoons, merch, film or games, and we will not license your work to anyone else, including for AI training, without a separate written agreement with you. Only paid full episodes are exclusive while the series is active on Komoto. Free episodes, trailers, and promotional clips may be shared on other platforms to help creators grow their audience, subject to Komoto attribution requirements.
Founding Creators keep 80% of net subscription revenue (after taxes, refunds and payment processing fees) - the highest share we will ever offer. Standard rate after launch is 70%.
Payments and creator payouts are powered by Stripe. Your share is paid out monthly in U.S. dollars once your balance reaches $25. Refunds and chargebacks are deducted from later payouts. Once your series is live, you can follow your subscribers and earnings any time in your payout dashboard.
9:16 vertical, 60-120 seconds per episode, with a slate of 8 or more episodes planned. You need at least 3 completed pilot episodes to apply.
Every application is read by the Komoto team, and you get a decision by email within 7 business days.
