Creator Agreement (Sample)
Last updated October 2026
This is a plain-language sample of the Creator Agreement that approved Komoto creators sign. It is here so you can read the key points before you apply. It is a summary for information only and is not the signed contract. The Creator Agreement you receive controls, and it works together with our Terms of Service.
01 You own your series
- Ownership: you keep all copyright and other rights in your series, characters, scripts, art and music. Komoto does not claim ownership.
- Off-platform deals: Komoto will not sell, assign or license your work to third parties, including for merchandise, film, TV, games or AI training, without a separate written agreement with you.
02 The license you give Komoto
- Scope: a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, encode, stream, display and distribute your episodes through Komoto and its apps.
- Promotion: Komoto may show clips of up to 30 seconds, thumbnails, and your name and profile to promote the Service. You can opt out by emailing us.
- Duration: the license lasts while your content is on Komoto. When you remove it, access ends within 30 days, apart from short-term backups.
- Sublicensing: only to service providers that help run Komoto (hosting, streaming, payments, analytics), and only for that purpose.
03 Exclusivity
Paid episodes of your series are exclusive to Komoto while your series is live on the platform. Episodes you make free on Komoto can also be shared on other platforms, as long as each post credits Komoto, with a link to your series where the platform allows links or the Komoto name where it does not. Trailers and promo clips under 30 seconds can be shared anywhere. You confirm this when you apply.
04 Pricing and revenue share
- Your price: you set your own subscription price within the range Komoto allows (currently $2.99 to $19.99 per month, or $4.99 to $49.99 for a season pass).
- Your share: you keep a share of net subscription revenue, which is revenue after taxes, refunds, chargebacks and payment processing fees. The standard share is 70%. Founding Class creators keep 80%.
- Promised shares are protected: Komoto will not reduce a share you have already been promised. Any change to the standard share applies only after at least 30 days of notice.
05 Payouts
- Schedule: monthly, in U.S. dollars, once your balance reaches $25.
- Dashboard: once your series is live, you can follow your subscribers and earnings in your payout dashboard.
- Refunds and chargebacks: amounts from refunded or charged-back payments are deducted from future payouts.
- Taxes: you are responsible for your own taxes, and we may ask for tax forms such as a W-9 or W-8.
06 Your promises
You confirm that you own or have the rights to everything you upload (including music, voices, fonts and any AI-generated or licensed assets), that it does not infringe anyone else's rights, that it follows the content rules in the Terms of Service, and that the information in your application is accurate.
07 Ending the agreement
- You can remove your content or close your account at any time.
- If Komoto suspends or ends an account for breaking the Terms, we will tell you the reason and give you a chance to respond. The exception is urgent cases, such as illegal content, where we may act first.
- Komoto pays any earned, undisputed revenue you are owed when an agreement ends.
