Komoto Terms of Service

Last updated October 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Komoto website and services (the "Service"), operated by Komoto ("Komoto", "we", "us"), Los Angeles, California. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

01 Who can use Komoto

  • You must be at least 13 to create an account. Children under 13 may not create accounts or give us personal information, but may watch together with a parent or guardian on the parent or guardian's account.
  • If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you need a parent or guardian's permission.
  • To apply as a Creator or receive payouts you must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account secure.

02 Two kinds of users

  • Viewers watch series and may pay a subscription or buy access.
  • Creators publish series on Komoto and may earn revenue from viewers.

Creators are also bound by the Creator Agreement (Section 11), which controls if it conflicts with these Terms for Creator matters.

03 Your content stays yours

  • You own your content. Creators keep all copyright and other rights in their series, characters, scripts, art, music and other materials ("Creator Content"). Komoto does not claim ownership.
  • We will not sell, assign, or license your Creator Content to third parties (including for merchandise, film, TV, games, or AI training) without a separate written agreement with you.

04 The license you give Komoto

To run the Service, you give Komoto a limited license to Creator Content:

  • Scope: non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, to host, store, encode, stream, display, and distribute your content through the Service and its apps, and to create technical copies (such as different video qualities).
  • Promotion: to show clips, thumbnails, your name, and profile in Komoto's own marketing for the Service. Promotional clips are limited to 30 seconds, and Creators can opt out of promotion by emailing us.
  • Sublicensing: only to service providers who help us operate the Service (hosting, streaming, payment, analytics), and only for that purpose.
  • Duration: the license lasts while your content is on Komoto. When you remove it, access ends within 30 days, except for backup copies kept for a short period and copies viewers have downloaded for permitted offline viewing.
  • Exclusivity: Whether a series is exclusive to Komoto is set in your Creator Agreement. Where it is, paid episodes stay exclusive to Komoto while the series is live, and episodes you make free on Komoto may be shared on other platforms if each post credits Komoto, with a link to your series where the platform allows links or the Komoto name where it does not. Unless the Creator Agreement says otherwise, you may publish your series elsewhere, and you may always share trailers and promo clips on other platforms.

05 Your promises (Creators)

You confirm that you:

  • own or have the rights to everything you upload, including music, voices, fonts, and any AI-generated or licensed assets;
  • do not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights;
  • follow the Content Rules (Section 6);
  • give accurate information when you apply.

You are responsible for your content. If a third party makes a valid claim about it, you will cooperate with us and indemnify Komoto as described in Section 15.

06 Content rules
